IB Gateway Disconnects From Alera Portfolio Manager Every Morning?
Is Alera Portfolio Manager (APM) disconnected from your IB Gateway connection every morning?
If so, here's what you can do to fix it...
1. Make sure you are using an updated version of IB Gateway.
To do this, search for "download ib gateway" using DuckDuckGo or other search engine.
In this case we've chosen the first search result. Although the latter search results give us a newer version of IB Gateway, they may be early releases and therefore 'less stable' for production environments.
Just follow the link and the download/install instructions.
Note that you can have multiple versions of IB Gateway installed on your computer. IB Gateway doesn't include a self-contained auto updater, so it won't automatically update or remove older versions.
2. Make sure you are using an updated version of APM.
To do this, go to https://aleratrading.com/ and click on 'PRODUCTS' from the main menu and then 'Register and Download'. Follow the instructions.
3. Set IB Gateway to re-connect.
IB Gateway will disconnect and shut down every night. APM will attempt to re-connect around midnight when IB Gateway shuts down each night. (Note: you will likely need to re-start IB Gate and manually reconnect every Monday morning, due to weekend maintenance at IB).
In IB Gateway, from the 'Configure' main menu select 'Settings' then 'Lock and Exit' and select 'Auto restart' then click on 'Apply' then 'OK'.
That should do the trick!
You may need to adjust the time depending on your time zone in the lock and exit time settings.
Remember, IB does server maintenance over the weekend, so you'll likely need to re-connect every Monday morning before the market opens.
